The first and only flashcart for the Casio Loopy! Despite its small library, a few of the Loopy games are exceptionally hard to find and expensive. With the Floopy Drive, you can not only experience all the Loopy has to offer, but translations like Puppy Love Story, homebrew, and future translations! It’s also a dev cart that lets you debug and communicate with the SH-1 CPU in realtime by proxying its serial interface to USB
Things you should know before buying:
- The entire Loopy library is playable. Even the Magical Shop ROM will run, though it won’t do much without the hardware. The expansion audio chip present on Wan Wan Aijou Monogatari / Puppy Love Story is NOT emulated, PCM sound effects like the dog barking will not be played, but all music and some sound effects are. Lupiton no Wonder Palette is fully playable on the Floopy Drive but it will not capture from an attached Magical Shop like original hardware
- Unlike an Everdrive, the Floopy Drive uses USB and your computer to flash it, NOT an SD card. There’s no drivers or software to install, it’s plug-and-play, and the interface is intuitive drag-and-drop. Some advanced features are present, too, like import/export of save data, which can be interchanged with the two major Loopy emulators
- The Floopy Drive is open source. By purchasing one from my shop, proceeds go to PartlyHuman to help continue further development. It’s also assembled by hand, one by one it’s not a factory-made, mass produced product.
