This is a customizable order form for the TurboExpress and the various services offered. Please note that all costs listed are for service only, requiring you to ship not only the console but the mod/upgrade parts you have purchased yourself (with exception to the Full Recap Service as I will provide new capacitors from Console5)
LCDDRV/RGBDRV Screen Replacement
Whether you have a TE/GT with a faulty OEM screen (dead backlight or screen itself) or just want a huge quality of life upgrade these kits can make your display much easier on the eyes as they are significantly larger (3.5″) and using a modern display with better contrast, saturation, etc. When this service is selected it includes all labor for disassembly of the original screen, cutting of the shell, wiring and mounting of new screen as well as calibration of the display. I will also wire up the brightness wheel so you can control it like an OEM screen. Keep in mind that due to the shell cutting there is no going back to stock once this has been done, its completely irreversible so be sure you want to make the change and/or have a unit with a dead display.
I will not install this kit unless you also provide the professional bracket and mounting kit from Console5, as well as the new lens and a QSB for soldering R/G/B/GND so the original ribbon connector doesnt have to be removed. My cost for this service is based on the labor of using the aforementioned kit, without those the mounting and alignment is much more difficult and time consuming. If you send in the screen kit but not the console5 mounting kit I will not install and will send it back, no refund on the shipping. If you have any questions about the Install kit and which options to select, please don’t hesitate to reach out and ask!

Full Recap Service
Electrolytic Capacitors have an estimated shelf life of about 15 years and many of these old retro gaming systems are long past that time. The TurboExpress (along with other NEC systems of the time) are absolutely notorious for bad/leaking caps and the vast majority of issues (no power, audio or screen issues) can be fixed by simply recapping and cleaning the system. Owners of the TurboExpress should consider a recap mandatory even if the system is not yet exhibiting issues, as its simply a matter of time. Along with the replacement of all SMD and through-hole caps on the system and controller board, this recap includes 2 new ceramic caps of higher value to combat jailbars that can be seen on some systems/screens
Full Service Cleaning
After years of heavy use many handhelds will exhibit accumulation of dirt, dust and debris and this can not only impact the aesthetic appearance of the system but dirty system components can impact component life and performance. Your console will be completely disassembled and cleaned from the inside out. All PCB and internal electrical components will have dust and debris removed via an electronic air compressor and then be cleaned with 99% isopropyl alcohol and brushed clean. Outer shell and other non-electronic components will be taken apart and soaked in a soap/water mixture and carefully scrubbed to remove stains and debris buildup. Any light markings, scuffs or other blemishes will be safely removed to the best of my ability. Once the console is re-assembled the outer shell will be given a coat of plastic UV protectant to restore shine and prevent UV damage. Depending on the handheld system I will do my best to buff out light scratches on the screen/panel as well
