I see Virtual Boys all the time but RetroTap kits are getting quite hard to find! This VB came in basically for the works – cleaning, recap, new ribbons and the aforementioned RetroTap install. The customer also provided the palette switch and SNES MultiOut parts as they bought the RGB

While the XBOX is a pretty popular console to see here in my shop, I’m usually working on untouched ones that are often in need of a serious cleaning and/or repair. I had this customer reach out to me with an XBOX that had already been softmodded and cleaned, heatsinks

I have seen a decent amount of Game Gears here in the shop over the years and as most people into the handheld know, just about every single one needs some work in order to function properly. I’m talking specifically about the capacitors which almost universally have failed and leaked

As part of a two-console order (along with an OG Xbox) was this Sega 32X the customer wanted recapped and the Buzzkill mod installed in! The Buzzkill mod replaces the original power circuit with a more efficient one and also helps remove the very common buzzing/humming noise caused by the

I’ve been seeing an uptick in Dreamcast service requests again and this order came through for one with a non-working GDROM drive. Customer stated it was working ok up until a few years back and slowly got worse over time, requiring a restart or at times behavior would change depending

I’ve done tons of Triple Bypass installs over the years but switchless region mods (or the more basic switched region mods) are not very common here. Unlike in PAL territory where many games were hampered with awful 50hz versions the USA NTSC Genesis is superior for all but the few

Part 2 of this order was for a refurbishment of a Nintendo Wii. Compared to the last one I did which was all the same work plus an HDMI mod and internal NVME drive I knew this would be pretty quick and easy. Prior to the work it tested fine

The first console in this dual console order was a fat PS2! Both systems were in for a straightforward refurbishment (no mods) and both were confirmed working by the customer and tested fine by me. Nothing out of the ordinary here although an OEM network adapter was attached and since

Just like an identical Model 2 I did as a premod for the RetroWorldExpo, this Japanese Saturn was requested to be fully refurbished and decked out with all the popular upgrades! The Fenrir Pro allows you to retain the optical drive for playing original discs (assuming its functional) while also

The third and final console in this order was another GameCube, this time a black model DOL-101. Same exact work as the earlier Platinum ‘Cube I refurbished except this one was reading discs from a cold start albeit perhaps struggling a tiny bit. Nothing out of the ordinary on this

This 2-chip SNES (SNS-CPU-GPM-02) was sent in for a refurbishment including a full capacitor replacement and cleaning service. When it arrived it tested fine (a few of my carts seemed flaky, turned out to be some hair/debris in the cart slot) so this seemed to be mostly for preventative maintenance.

I don’t see a ton of 3DO consoles here in the shop so when a regular customer of mine wanted to send their FZ-10 model in for a refurbishment I was more than happy to give it some TLC! Just a straightforward cleaning and recap service was all that was
